About
Dr. Robert L. True MD. FCAOG |
|
| |
| |
As a
young boy, Dr. True suffered from what hundreds of
children have to deal with during their childhood
years: he was overweight! He was raised in an Italian
family and ate lots of pasta. For him, unfortunately,
healthy eating habits were not on the menu! His siblings
were thin, but he was not. Because of this, his self
image was always poor and his ability to do physical
activity was limited. And of course this simply continued
into a cycle of eating more, exercising less, and
becoming more overweight.
During high school, he became more aware of his weight
problem and felt compelled to change his lifestyle.
Therefore, he began learning about better nutrition
and exercise through motivational books. After school
and work, he began an exercise program called the
Royal Canadian Air Force Exercise Plans For Physical
Fitness where he simply did a series of exercises
every day for eleven (11) minutes a day. Surprisingly,
the pounds simply came off, and he has continued this
philosophy by eating the right foods and by exercising
regularly. |
|
| |
| |
As a physician since
1980, he has encouraged and taught patients to eat
correctly and exercise daily. He has always kept foremost
in his mind the concept of “Prevention is the
best medicine”. Eating a nutritious and balanced
diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, combined
with a regular exercise program is known to help prevent
medical problems. This has been an integral part of
his practice and will always continue. |

Why
The True Diet? |
| |
Over the years, Dr.
True has seen the effects of what poor nutrition and
inadequate exercise can do to people. When a person
is overweight or obese for a long time, they have
a much higher chance of developing serious medical
conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer,
and many orthopedic problems, to name a few. |
| |
| |
The most frequent
complaint from his patients has been, “How do
I lose the weight?” Dr. True’s goal has
always been to try to help and encourage people to
lose weight and stay fit. Not only would this help
prevent multiple potential physical problems from
occurring, but also so people could live healthier
and more productive lives.
|
| |
| |
Lugging around extra
pounds of fat simply makes people fatigue more quickly.
They become less active, which perpetuates and increases
the problem. It’s no wonder that so many overweight
patients complain of fatigue. During visits with his
patients, he encourages these people to lose the weight
for their health, to feel better, and to get more
energy. |
| |
| |
However, just encouragement
has not been an adequate inducement for most people
to lose those extra pounds. Most people rationalize
and make excuses for not being able to eat right or
to exercise appropriately. They simply did not place
these lifetime goals into the high priority list for
them. |
| |
| |
Dr. True thought
that creating some type of diet plan that would create
incentives and motivation for better health was necessary.
Only when people are motivated to want to do something
will they do it. With incentive rewards, people will
tend to do the right thing. |
| |
| |
Thus, he created
the concept of The True Diet to incorporate all three
topics: |
| |
Motivation – to
help people want to lose weight and be more fit and
healthy. |
| |
Nutrition - to teach
the basics of good nutrition for a better body and better
health, |
| |
Exercise – to build
and exercise the muscles to burn the fat; a necessary
ingredient to lose weight, get fit, become more healthy,
become more energized, be more alert, think more clearly,
be more active and thus enjoy life to a fuller extent. |

for surgery and bedside medicine. |
| |
| |
Over the years, he
has developed his weight-loss concepts by reading
and studying motivational, nutritional and exercise
sources. He has combined this information with the
observations and lessons he has learned from his medical
practice experience of observing the habits of thousands
of patients. He created his diet plan to try to correct
the fitness problems that he has seen on a daily basis. |
| |
| |
After the extra weight
is gone and patients continue to have small areas
of fat they want to reduce, he also offers body contouring
procedures in his office. He is well trained and performs
